Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) before using StoryCut. By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Agreement and Eligibility
These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and Mondrus CCS Inc (“Mondrus”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) governing StoryCut: Video Splitter, Trim for Android and related materials (the “App”).
You may use the App only if you are at least 13 years old and, if you are under the age of majority where you live, with the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms. You must be legally able to use the App where you live.
2. What StoryCut Does
StoryCut splits a long video into parts of a chosen length or number for Stories and Status, saves the parts to your gallery, lets you send them to other apps, and provides a simple editor to join and trim clips and make a video from photos. Processing happens on your device. The App has no accounts and does not upload your videos or photos.
StoryCut is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Meta, Telegram, TikTok, YouTube or any other service whose name may appear in the App or its store listing. Those names are used only to describe compatibility, and the limits of those services (such as the maximum Story or Status length) may change without notice.
3. Your Content
You keep all rights to the videos, photos and other material you open, edit or create with the App (“Your Content”). Mondrus does not receive Your Content and claims no rights in it.
You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights and permissions needed to copy, edit and share it, including the consent of people who appear in it. Do not use the App to create or share content that is unlawful, infringes another person’s rights, or violates the rules of the service you share it to.
The parts the App saves are ordinary files on your device. Deleting the App, clearing its storage, a device failure or a software defect may cause data loss, so keep copies of anything you do not want to lose.
4. License
Subject to these Terms, Mondrus grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to install and use the App on Android devices you own or control.
Except where applicable law expressly permits it, you may not:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense or commercially exploit the App itself;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, or attempt to derive its source code;
- remove proprietary notices or misrepresent the App’s origin;
- bypass purchase checks, advertising, security or other technical limits; or
- use the App in violation of law or another person’s rights.
5. Advertising
The free version of the App is supported by ads from Google AdMob and its partners. Ads may be personalized, non-personalized or limited depending on your region, consent choices and device settings, as described in the Privacy Policy. Where required, the App asks for consent before personalized ads, and you can change your choice in Settings. We do not endorse advertisers or their products; an advertiser’s own terms and privacy policy apply when you interact with an ad.
6. StoryCut Pro
StoryCut Pro is optional. It removes ads and unlocks extra features described in the App, such as splitting by number of parts and making a video from photos. Google Play sells and bills Pro as:
- a monthly or yearly subscription that renews automatically at the price and interval shown by Google Play until you cancel. If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, Google Play charges the subscription price when the trial ends. The App reminds you two days before a trial ends; or
- a lifetime purchase: a one-time payment with no renewal.
The price, currency, trial and other terms shown by Google Play at checkout apply to your purchase. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play subscriptions. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and Pro stays active until then. Refunds are governed by Google Play’s policies and applicable law. To restore Pro on a new device, sign in to Google Play with the account you used to buy it. 7. Permissions and Devices
Some features need notifications, a foreground service for long splits, network access, or the Android photo picker. You control permissions in Android settings; refusing one may make the related feature unavailable. You are responsible for a compatible device, a supported Android version, enough storage and battery, and any data charges.
8. Third-Party Services
The App relies on Google Play, Android, Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging) and Google AdMob, and on open-source components including AndroidX Media3. These services and components are governed by their own terms and licenses. We do not control their availability or changes.
9. Updates and Availability
We may release updates, add, change or remove features, change presets and limits, or change settings through Firebase Remote Config. We do not promise that the App will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or every other app, and we may discontinue the App or a feature where reasonably necessary.
10. Intellectual Property
The App’s code, design, interface, text, artwork and branding are owned by or licensed to Mondrus. “StoryCut” and related branding may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without written permission. Third-party components remain subject to their licenses.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. MONDRUS DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL PROCESS EVERY VIDEO FORMAT, THAT ANOTHER SERVICE WILL ACCEPT THE PARTS IT CREATES, OR THAT IT WILL OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, ERROR OR DATA LOSS. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MONDRUS AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, CONTENT, PROFITS OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM THE APP OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or affects mandatory consumer rights in your country.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mondrus from third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from Your Content, your unlawful use of the App, or your violation of these Terms or another person’s rights. This section does not apply where consumer law prohibits it.
14. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it; cancel any subscription separately in Google Play. We may terminate your license if you materially violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and dispute terms, survive termination.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law in your place of residence applies. Before starting formal proceedings, please email storycut@mondoapps.app with a description of the dispute; we will try to resolve it informally within 30 days.
Except where prohibited by law, an unresolved dispute will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, and claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class or representative action. If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction that gives you a non-waivable right to bring a claim in local courts or before a consumer dispute body, nothing in this section removes that right.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when the App, our providers or the law change. We will post the new Terms at this address and update the “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the App after the new Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.
17. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Mondrus regarding the App. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, merger, acquisition or sale. These Terms are written in English, and the English version controls unless applicable law requires otherwise.
