Privacy Policy
In short: StoryCut splits long videos into parts for Stories and Status and builds simple stories from videos and photos. Your videos and photos are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us. StoryCut has no accounts. The App uses Google Firebase for analytics, crash reports, remote configuration and notifications, shows ads from Google AdMob in the free version, and sells StoryCut Pro through Google Play. Request deletion of your data.
1. Who We Are
StoryCut: Video Splitter, Trim (the “App”, package io.garny.story.video.editor.maker on Google Play) is developed and published by Mondrus CCS Inc (“Mondrus”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). Mondrus is the data controller for the information described in this Policy. This Policy explains how the Android App accesses, uses, stores and transmits information.
Privacy questions and requests may be sent to storycut@mondoapps.app.
2. Information That Stays on Your Device
2.1 Videos and photos
You choose videos and photos with the Android photo picker. The App reads only the items you pick. It splits, trims, joins and encodes them on your device and saves the resulting parts to your gallery, in the folder Movies/StoryCut. Your videos, photos, their frames and their metadata are not sent to Mondrus, Firebase, advertising providers or any other server.
2.2 Projects and settings
The list of your splits and stories, their settings (part length, number of parts, preset), your preferences, onboarding state and your purchase status are stored in the App’s private storage on your device. Android cloud backup is turned off for the App, so this data is not copied to your Google account.
2.3 Sharing
When you tap Send or Share, the App hands the selected parts to the Android share sheet. The app you choose (for example, WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram) receives the files under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive a copy.
3. Information That Leaves Your Device
| Data | Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| App interactions (for example, a split started or finished, parts shared, paywall viewed), app and device information, approximate location derived from the IP address, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier | Google Firebase / Google Analytics | Understand how features are used and improve the App |
| Crash reports and diagnostics: stack traces, device model, OS and App version, free memory and disk, the Firebase installation identifier, plan type (free or Pro), install date, and the SIM and network country codes | Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Sessions | Find and fix crashes and stability problems |
| Firebase installation identifier, App version, country and language, and request information | Google Firebase Remote Config and Installations | Retrieve operational settings for the App |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token | Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Deliver notifications about the App |
| Advertising ID, app set ID, IP address and approximate location, device and network information, consent choices, and ad interactions — free version only | Google AdMob and advertising partners involved in serving an ad | Show, personalize where permitted, measure and protect ads against fraud |
| Purchase and subscription information | Google Play | Sell StoryCut Pro and confirm your purchase on the device |
3.1 Analytics
Google Analytics for Firebase automatically collects sessions, app and device information, approximate location derived from the IP address, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. Our own events describe actions in the App, such as the chosen preset, the number of parts, whether a split finished, and paywall and purchase steps. Events never contain your videos, photos, file names, or file paths. Analytics data is linked to an installation of the App, not to your name or email address.
3.2 Advertising
The free version of the App shows ads supplied by Google AdMob and participating advertising partners. StoryCut Pro removes ads. Depending on your region, consent choices and device settings, ads may be personalized, non-personalized or limited.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the App shows a Google-certified consent form before ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy settings. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device’s privacy settings. Google explains how it uses data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
3.3 Purchases
Google Play sells, bills and manages StoryCut Pro: a monthly or yearly subscription, which may start with a free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The App reads your purchases from Google Play to unlock Pro on your device. We do not receive your payment card details, and we do not send purchases to our own server. Google processes payments under its own Privacy Policy.
4. Device Permissions
| Permission | How StoryCut uses it |
|---|---|
| Photo picker (no storage permission) | Open only the videos and photos you pick. |
| Foreground service (media processing, data sync) | Keep splitting a long video when you leave the App and show its progress in a notification. |
| Notifications | Show splitting progress, tell you that the parts are saved, remind you two days before a free trial ends, and deliver notifications about the App. |
| Internet and network state | Analytics, crash reports, remote configuration, ads and Google Play purchases. |
| Advertising ID | Ads and ad measurement in the free version. |
You can revoke permissions in Android settings. Related features may then stop working.
5. How and Why We Use Information
We use information to provide the features you request, keep the App reliable, understand feature use, improve the product, fund the free version with ads, verify purchases, answer support requests, comply with law, and protect our users and our rights.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are the performance of our agreement with you for the App’s functions; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, measuring, funding and improving the App where they are not overridden by your rights; compliance with legal obligations; and your consent where it is required, including for personalized advertising.
6. Service Providers and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share or make data available only as described here:
- Google LLC: Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sessions, Installations, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, Google AdMob and Google Play billing. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Advertising partners: only when they take part in selecting, delivering, measuring or protecting an ad in the free version.
- Apps you share to: only the files you choose to send through the Android share sheet.
- Authorities or transaction parties: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or complete a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with appropriate safeguards.
7. Retention and Deletion
- On your device: projects, settings and purchase status stay until you delete a story in the App, clear the App’s storage or uninstall the App. The parts you saved to Movies/StoryCut are your files and stay in your gallery until you delete them.
- Analytics: user-level event data is kept for no longer than 14 months; aggregated reports may be kept longer.
- Crash reports: Crashlytics keeps crash data for up to 90 days.
- Firebase installation identifiers: kept by Google under Firebase retention and deletion rules.
- Advertising data: retention depends on the advertising provider, purpose, your consent and applicable law.
- Google Play purchase records: controlled by Google under its retention rules.
- Support emails: kept only as long as needed to answer you and meet legal obligations.
Delete your data: see Delete your StoryCut data for the steps on your device and to request deletion of data held by Firebase. Uninstalling the App stops all collection and resets its Firebase identifiers on that device. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in Google Play subscriptions.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To use these rights, email storycut@mondoapps.app. Because StoryCut has no accounts, we may ask for details that help us find the data of your installation. We will not discriminate against you for using a privacy right.
California residents may request information about the categories of personal information collected, its sources, purposes and recipients, and may request access, correction or deletion. We do not sell personal information for money. Personalized advertising in the free version may be treated as “sharing” under some US state laws; the consent and privacy controls described above apply where required.
9. International Processing
Google, advertising partners and Mondrus may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, transfers are protected by contractual safeguards, adequacy decisions or other recognized mechanisms.
10. Security
Data sent to Firebase, Google Play and advertising providers travels over encrypted connections. Data on your device is protected by the Android app sandbox and your device security. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11. Children
StoryCut is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact storycut@mondoapps.app and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy when the App, our providers or the law change. We will post the new version at this address and update the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will also tell you in the App.
